Crossing with the savanna queen
It was another sunny day during our stay in Serengeti. That spot, where wildebeest were crossing Mara river, we had visited many times before and nothing extraordinary was expected to happen. As usual, we hid our car in the bush, to not scare the herds gathering on the opposite side of the river. Just a while after we stopped, prepared for a long waiting, first animals started to cross the river - much earlier than on the previous days. Carefully we approached closer to the riverbank and we found out, that there was no other car waiting for the crossing, so the show started only for us. The second surprise was the unusual presence of the lonely giraffe, walking slowly in the shallow water, nearby the wildebeest huge herds. This proud queen of savannah was in addition beautifully illuminated and contrasting with the dark cloud of running antelopes behind her. This outstanding performance was played exclusively for us.
