A candidate for the elite
Some elephants, particularly those in their several decades of age, have tusks that reach the ground, each weighing over 50 kg. Unfortunately, due to poaching, such elephants are becoming increasingly scarce, and currently, their number is estimated at 50-100 individuals throughout Africa. The largest population of these so-called "big tuskers" is found in Amboseli, where they can be observed walking against the backdrop of Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. The one in the photo is still a young individual, and we hope it will be fortunate enough to reach an age where its tusks grow enough to join the elite group of elephants.
