"Valuable" prey
Young hyenas, much like other animals, start learning how to eat from a young age. They compete with their pack mates to get food, which helps them become better hunters and figure out their place in the group. In Botswana's Chitabe area, this young hyena moved away with a small bone so it could chew on it without being bothered by its many brothers and sisters.
