A rare encounter
Despite being a peculiar creature known as the aardvark (Orycteropus afer afer), found across the entire sub-Saharan Africa and not currently facing extinction, it is exceptionally challenging to observe. Some guides humorously liken it to a unicorn, a mythical creature found only in legends. This difficulty stems from the aardvark's nocturnal lifestyle and the fact that it spends its days in deep burrows it digs. Encountering it in daylight is a rarity, making me particularly thrilled that I managed to photograph it in the soft morning light, just moments before sunrise. This observation took place in the Chitabe concession in Botswana.
