The Golden monkey, until recently considered a subspecies of the Blue monkey, is a rare species found only in the Great Rift Valley region. They live in mountain forests at an altitude of up to 3500m and feed on fruits and bamboo. They are threatened with extinction, their current population is only about 4,000 individuals.
