In the Lesio-Louna reserve in Congo-Brazzaville, gorillas that spent their childhood in captivity are adapted to life in the wild. They are kept in semi-freedom conditions on large river islands in a habitat close to natural, but because they are surrounded by water, they cannot escape. They also have to be fed by the reserve staff, as they are unable to gather enough food for themselves.
