In a lions pride, females are responsible for 90% of hunting. They are responsible for feeding the family. Male lions engage in hunting only when females cannot deal with this duty (e.g. they are sick). It seems unfair. On the other hand, males are responsible for the safety of the pride. So maybe the males aren't lazy, but rather save their energy to be ready to fight?
