In the group, cooler?
Ostriches know many ways to deal with high temperatures. One of them is raising feathers and exposing bare skin to increase the surface area of the body through which excess heat is dissipated to the environment. Perhaps getting together into a tight group may also help by minimizing the area on which the sun's rays fall. However, this is just my theory ...;)
