Lords of the wetlands
Red lechwe is a relatively rare African antelope, but it is numerous in the area of the Okavango Delta. This is not surprising as it is perfectly adapted to this wetland environment. It has longer and heavily built hind limbs, thanks to which it can make powerful jumps through the water, and widely spaced hooves, thanks to which it does not sink into the marshy ground. All this means that in the event of an attack by a predator, it can quickly and effectively escape into the flooded areas.
